Doris Ogala, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 general elections, has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos following her arraignment before a Federal High Court.
The actress and politician was remanded on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, by Justice Akintayo Aluko over allegations bordering on cyberstalking, cyberbullying and attempted extortion involving popular cleric, Pastor Chris Okafor.
Ogala was brought before the court on a three-count charge filed by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read to her.
During the proceedings, prosecution counsel, Tolulope Mokolu, alleged that Ogala published intimate photographs of Pastor Okafor on her social media accounts without his consent.
The prosecution further accused her of circulating videos, recordings and electronic messages allegedly containing false information intended to threaten, intimidate, embarrass and harass the cleric.
According to the charges, the alleged incidents occurred between September 2024 and March 2026.
The prosecution also alleged that Ogala threatened to release additional intimate and damaging materials unless Okafor compensated her or bought her a house.
The alleged offences were brought under relevant provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Amendment Act, 2024.
However, the allegations remain before the court, and Ogala has denied the charges.
Following her plea, the prosecution requested that the court remand Ogala while the case proceeded. Her defence counsel, N. C. Atulomah, opposed the request and urged the judge to grant her bail.
The defence also informed the court that Ogala was the AAC governorship candidate for Abia State and assured the court that she would attend future proceedings if released.
However, prosecution counsel told the court that he had only received the bail application on Wednesday and needed time to study it and file a response.
In his ruling, Justice Aluko held that the defence had not presented sufficient grounds to justify Ogala's immediate release.
The judge consequently ordered that she remain at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the hearing and determination of her bail application.
The court adjourned the matter until Friday, October 30, 2026, for the hearing of the bail application.
Ogala's remand has attracted attention because of her political ambition ahead of the 2027 Abia State governorship election.
Her position as the AAC candidate adds a political dimension to the legal development, although the criminal proceedings remain separate from the electoral process.
The outcome of the bail hearing will determine whether she can return home while the case continues or remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
For now, the actress and politician remains in custody as the court prepares to consider her bail application.
