Adeleke Departs for Abuja as Tinubu’s 2027 Campaign Council Holds Inauguration
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has departed for Abuja ahead of the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general election.
The governor was seen in a video circulating on social media on Wednesday, October 14, walking with members of his protocol team towards a private jet expected to convey him to the Federal Capital Territory.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expected to formally inaugurate the campaign council.
Adeleke’s attendance comes after his inclusion in the APC’s revised campaign council list, where he was named coordinator of President Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Osun State.
The appointment places the Osun governor at the centre of the APC’s campaign mobilisation efforts in the state ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
His inclusion has attracted political attention because Adeleke belongs to the Accord Party, under which he secured re-election as Osun governor, rather than the APC.
The governor has previously expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, citing his interest in regional cooperation and the completion of major federal infrastructure projects.
According to the revised campaign council list, Adeleke will coordinate campaign activities in Osun, while Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike will oversee the campaign in Rivers State and the FCT.
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has also been named the campaign coordinator for his state.
The appointments reflect the APC’s decision to include prominent political figures from outside its membership in the campaign structure.
The expanded council will be chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda serving as vice-chairmen.
Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari has been named Director-General, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma will serve as secretary.
Other political figures have been assigned responsibilities covering mobilisation, finance, communications, election planning and stakeholder engagement.
The inauguration is expected to formally activate the campaign structure as the ruling party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
Adeleke’s involvement adds another dimension to political alignments ahead of the next general election, particularly in the South-West, where the APC and opposition parties will seek to consolidate support.
His role also raises questions about how cross-party political cooperation will operate during the campaign, given that he remains associated with the Accord Party.
However, his appointment as a campaign coordinator does not, by itself, mean he has formally joined the APC.
As the 2027 election approaches, the effectiveness of the campaign council will depend on its ability to organise supporters, coordinate activities across states and communicate the President’s record and policy agenda to voters.
The inauguration marks a further step in the APC’s preparations for the presidential election, with Adeleke among the political figures assigned roles in its nationwide campaign structure.
