At just 10 years old, Nigerian twin brothers Jason and Jaden Ojo are preparing to enter the world of publishing with their debut children’s book, demonstrating how everyday family experiences can inspire creativity and storytelling.
The twins will unveil JJ The Sloth and the Twins in Lagos on October 24, 2026, during a birthday celebration that will also introduce a wider children’s entertainment and learning project built around the story’s central character.
The book was co-authored by Jason and Jaden alongside their mother, Gina Ehikodi-Ojo, who helped transform a familiar part of family life into a story designed to engage young readers.
At the centre of the narrative is JJ the Sloth, a character who guides the twins through ordinary childhood activities, including preparing for school, learning, eating, playing and resting.
Rather than presenting these activities as a rigid list of instructions, the story aims to make daily routines more enjoyable by combining practical lessons with imagination and relatable experiences.
The idea emerged from a simple exercise in which the boys were asked to write down their daily routines from memory.
Their responses closely reflected the structure their mother had established at home, inspiring the family to explore how those experiences could become a children's story.
Ehikodi-Ojo said she believes children need structure while still having room for creativity, play and the freedom to enjoy childhood.
She explained that what began as an ordinary family routine eventually became a story the boys could identify as their own, making their transition into young authors especially meaningful.
The project reflects an approach to learning that uses familiar experiences to help children understand time management, healthy habits and the importance of balancing responsibilities with recreation.
For parents and caregivers, the story also offers an opportunity to introduce conversations about daily schedules without making routines feel like a constant set of rules.
The book launch will form part of the twins’ 10th birthday celebration and is expected to feature a signing session with the young authors, family-focused activities, media engagements and the premiere of the first episode of the accompanying series.
However, the book represents only the beginning of a broader project designed to bring JJ the Sloth to children through multiple formats.
The creators plan to expand the concept into additional books, digital content, a plush character and a television and online series.
The first phase of the series is expected to comprise 13 episodes, with new instalments scheduled for weekly release on YouTube through JJ The Sloth Adventures.
The episodes will explore familiar childhood subjects such as getting dressed, eating breakfast, tidying up, managing screen time, science, arts and play.
By using a recurring character and storytelling format, the project aims to make everyday lessons easier for children to understand, remember and apply.
Its creators believe that positive habits can be encouraged more effectively when learning is connected to play, imagination and experiences children recognise from their own lives.
The planned expansion into schools, libraries and book clubs could also create opportunities for children to engage with the characters beyond their homes and digital screens.
Such activities may encourage reading, discussion and creative participation while introducing young audiences to the idea that stories can grow from ordinary experiences.
The twins’ achievement also highlights the potential for children to participate actively in creative projects when their ideas are encouraged and supported by adults.
Although their mother played an important role in developing the project, the book draws on the boys’ own observations of their daily lives, giving them a personal connection to the story.
Their debut provides an example of how family activities can become opportunities to develop communication skills, imagination and confidence.
The planned launch in Lagos will mark the public introduction of the book and its wider entertainment concept, with the accompanying series expected to continue the project’s reach after the event.
As Jason and Jaden prepare to celebrate their 10th birthday, their journey from a simple home exercise to a publishing project offers an encouraging reminder that creative ideas can emerge from the most familiar parts of childhood.
With books, digital storytelling and future educational activities planned, JJ The Sloth and the Twins is positioned as the starting point for a project that seeks to make everyday learning more engaging for children and families.
