An officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has been killed while his daughter was abducted following a fresh attack by suspected bandits on Odo-Ere, the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The attack reportedly occurred on Monday evening when armed men invaded the community, creating panic among residents and forcing many to flee for safety.
According to reports, the NSCDC officer was fatally shot during the assault, while his daughter was taken away by the attackers.
The incident has heightened fears among residents of Yagba West, an area that has witnessed growing security challenges in recent years, including kidnappings, armed attacks, and other violent crimes.
Community leaders and residents have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victim and prevent further attacks in the area.
The latest incident adds to concerns over insecurity in parts of North-Central Nigeria, where banditry and kidnapping continue to threaten lives and livelihoods.
