Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly been named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year for the 2025/26 season, adding another major individual honour to an outstanding campaign.
The reported victory comes as the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) holds its annual awards ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Fernandes was among six players shortlisted for the prestigious award, alongside Declan Rice, Erling Haaland, Gabriel Magalhães, David Raya and Rayan Cherki.
Fernandes has enjoyed one of the most productive seasons of his Manchester United career. The Portugal international was a key figure for the club throughout the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, helping United finish third and secure Champions League qualification. The midfielder finished the league season with nine goals and a record 21 assists, setting a new Premier League benchmark for assists in a single campaign. His creative performances made him one of the standout players in English football throughout the season.
His reported PFA triumph would cap a remarkable run of recognition. Fernandes had already been voted the EA SPORTS Premier League Player of the Season, while he also collected the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.
Unlike the Premier League's Player of the Season award, the PFA Players’ Player of the Year is decided by fellow professional footballers. That makes the honour particularly significant, as Fernandes' performances have been recognised by other players across the game.
The PFA had officially confirmed Fernandes as one of the six finalists ahead of the ceremony, with the winners scheduled to be honoured at the 53rd annual PFA Awards.
If the reported result is formally confirmed, Fernandes will have completed an impressive individual awards sweep following his record-breaking Premier League campaign.
For Manchester United supporters, the recognition is another indication of Fernandes' importance to the club. His leadership, chance creation and goal contributions were central to United's strong finish and return to Europe's elite competition.
The PFA award would therefore represent more than another personal trophy for Fernandes. It would be recognition from his fellow professionals of a season in which he consistently stood out as one of the Premier League's most influential midfielders.
