Hon. Mark Alphonsus, the East Africa Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, has urged Nigerian youths to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 general elections, while calling for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Alphonsus, who is also the founder and chief executive officer of Nairobi-based Amala Eko International, said young Nigerians should take a greater interest in the country’s political process and make use of their voting rights.

He said the movement intended to mobilise Nigerians across its East African jurisdiction through town hall meetings and other engagements ahead of the next general elections.

In his remarks, Alphonsus expressed support for the Tinubu administration’s economic policies, arguing that measures introduced by the government were intended to address longstanding structural challenges and create conditions for sustainable growth.

He cited the removal of petrol subsidies, foreign exchange reforms, student loan initiatives and investment in road infrastructure as reasons for supporting the President’s second-term ambition.

Alphonsus argued that the administration had taken difficult decisions to restructure the economy and urged Nigerians to consider its policies when making political choices.

His comments reflect the position of the City Boy Movement, a political support group working to promote the President’s policies and mobilise grassroots backing for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Alphonsus said his responsibility was to encourage Nigerians living across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Somalia to participate in the electoral process.

He disclosed that the movement planned town hall meetings and high-level engagements to strengthen its mobilisation efforts.

He also said the group wanted to encourage young Nigerians to develop leadership skills and become more involved in public affairs.

The coordinator’s appeal comes as political groups intensify preparations and mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Young Nigerians make up a significant share of the electorate, making their participation an important issue in election preparations.

Collecting a PVC is an essential step for eligible voters who intend to vote in Nigeria’s elections. Voters are also expected to confirm their registration details and follow official instructions issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

While the City Boy Movement is encouraging young people to support Tinubu, voters remain free to assess candidates, policies and political parties independently before deciding whom to support.

Alphonsus said the movement would continue engaging Nigerians in its East African jurisdiction as it works to increase participation and build support for the President ahead of the 2027 polls.

The campaign highlights the growing focus on youth mobilisation as political groups seek to turn voter registration and civic engagement into electoral participation.
