The Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil has invited eligible organisations to submit proposals for its 2027 Small-Scale Projects (SSP) programme, offering financial support for development initiatives in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The programme, funded by the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is designed to strengthen local capacity, improve access to education and promote socioeconomic empowerment in vulnerable communities, including refugees and internally displaced people.
According to the official announcement published on October 6, 2026, successful applicants may receive between CZK 250,000 and CZK 500,000 to implement approved projects. All activities and related payments must be completed by October 31, 2027.
The programme targets locally registered organisations capable of implementing community development projects in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Eligible applicants may include non-governmental non-profit organisations, educational and healthcare institutions, social and cultural organisations, cooperatives, local or regional authorities and other public-benefit organisations.
Applicants must have legal status and the necessary authorisation to receive funding under the Czech development cooperation programme. Central government administrative authorities, political parties and organisations seeking to generate profit from the grant are excluded.
The Czech government is prioritising initiatives that deliver practical and measurable benefits to vulnerable communities.
Proposals may focus on education, skills development, community capacity-building and socioeconomic empowerment. Projects could involve training programmes, equipment provision, infrastructure improvements or other activities with clearly defined outcomes.
Applicants must explain what their projects intend to achieve and how the results will be measured or verified. The funding is intended for eligible project activities rather than general organisational expenses such as office rent, utilities and routine accounting services.
Support and administrative costs must not exceed eight per cent of the total project budget financed through the programme.
Interested organisations must prepare the following documents:
A completed Small-Scale Project Identification Form in English, signed and stamped by the applicant organisation.
A verified document proving the organisation's legal status in the country where the project will be implemented, in English or translated into English.
A verified letter from the organisation's management or board confirming that the person signing the application is authorised to sign the funding contract.
Applications must be submitted both electronically and in hard copy to the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Erbil.
The electronic submission must include a signed and stamped PDF version and the completed Excel application form. Applicants must also include an English project summary of no more than 80 words in the email.
