Datti Baba-Ahmed Says He Has More Damaging Secrets About Peter Obi, Knocks Obidients
Former Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, has warned supporters of Peter Obi, popularly known as Obidients, that he has more damaging information to reveal about his former running mate and the 2023 presidential election.
Baba-Ahmed made the remarks during an interview with Symfoni TV, where he responded to criticism from supporters of the former Anambra State governor over his recent comments about Obi's political decisions.
The former vice-presidential candidate accused some Obidients of attacking him whenever he speaks critically about Obi, insisting that their reactions would not prevent him from expressing his views.
“Obidients are always eager to attack me. I have more damaging things to reveal. You attack me because I told you the truth about Peter Obi,” he said.
Baba-Ahmed also maintained that he remains a member of the Labour Party but would not be intimidated into keeping silent by supporters who disagree with his position.
He argued that some of Obi's supporters were not fully aware of what happened behind the scenes during the 2023 presidential campaign, when both men contested the election on the Labour Party platform.
Their disagreement comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly following Obi's reported political moves involving opposition coalitions.
Baba-Ahmed has recently criticised Obi's political direction, including his moves towards joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition. His comments reportedly angered some supporters, who accused him of abandoning his former political ally and working in the interest of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar.
The former running mate has, however, rejected attempts to silence him, maintaining that his knowledge of the 2023 campaign gives him reasons to speak about issues surrounding the former presidential ticket.
His latest remarks have added another dimension to the disagreement between the two former political allies, who jointly represented the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
Although Baba-Ahmed threatened further revelations, he did not disclose the specific information he intends to make public during the reported interview.
His comments have also renewed attention on the relationship between the former running mates and the divisions among supporters as political discussions intensify ahead of the next general election.
