The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has stated that education remains one of the most effective tools for combating terrorism, banditry, and other security challenges facing Nigeria.
Speaking on efforts to achieve sustainable peace and stability, the minister argued that security goes beyond military operations and must include investments in education, human development, and economic opportunities.
According to him, ignorance and hopelessness often create conditions that allow violent extremism and criminal activities to flourish.
He stressed that providing young people with access to quality education and opportunities could significantly reduce recruitment into criminal and extremist groups.
The remarks align with growing calls for a holistic approach to addressing insecurity, combining security operations with social and economic interventions.
Analysts have long argued that long-term solutions to insecurity require investments in education, job creation, and community development.
