The Executive Secretary of the agency, Mrs. Modupe Falade, made the call during the graduation ceremony held at the Basic Literacy Centre in Ekameta Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikogosi-Ekiti.
Speaking on behalf of the agency, Falade emphasized that basic literacy serves as a critical catalyst for individual empowerment and community socio-economic advancement.
The agency chief stated that the graduation ceremony reflects the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration to foster inclusive education by reaching underserved populations and eliminating adult illiteracy statewide.
Socio-Economic Liberation: Falade described mass literacy as an indispensable tool for personal liberation, enabling adults to acquire essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills necessary for daily commerce and civic engagement.
Local Leadership Sponsorship: She commended the Chairman of Ekameta LCDA, Mr. Adeniji Oluwaleye, and the council's management team for funding and sustaining the operational activities of the Ikogosi-Ekiti basic literacy center.
Call for Grassroots Mobilization: The agency urged literate residents, community influencers, and religious leaders to actively encourage non-literate relatives and neighbors to register for available adult education modules.
The agency reaffirmed its mandate to establish additional learning centers across rural communities in Ekiti State, offering flexible learning schedules tailored to farmers, artisans, and petty traders.
Local council representatives at the event pledged continued financial support for learning materials and facilitators, reinforcing state efforts to raise adult literacy rates and promote lifelong learning opportunities.
