The Alaaye of Efon Kingdom, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare, has announced honorary chieftaincy titles for Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.
The monarch made the announcement during the grand finale of the 43rd Efon Alaaye Day held in Efon Alaaye on Saturday.
Oba Aladejare said the honours were in recognition of the contributions made by both politicians to the development of Efon Kingdom.
Oyebanji was conferred with the title Bashorun Ataiyese of Efon Kingdom, while Bamidele received the title Okanlomo Atunluse of Efon Kingdom.
The monarch said the titles represented the kingdom's appreciation for service, dedication and contributions to community development.
He explained that the new chiefs would be formally installed and adorned with their respective regalia when arrangements are concluded.
Oba Aladejare also praised sons and daughters of Efon for their contributions to the kingdom's development and the success of the annual celebration.
The 2026 Efon Day featured cultural activities, traditional games, sporting events, a free medical outreach, a beauty pageant and an awards programme.
The monarch also disclosed that contributions to the ongoing Alaaye Palace renovation project had surpassed ₦100 million.
He credited the progress of the project to the leadership of Chief Patrick Akinboye Ojo and the support of indigenes and other stakeholders.
The President-General of the Efon Alaaye Development League, Olumuyiwa Aiyegbusi, urged indigenes to continue working together to promote good governance, education, commerce and industrialisation.
He also called on investors to explore Efon's peaceful environment, mountain scenery and other attractions for tourism and hospitality development.
The Chairman of the Efon Day Central Planning Committee, Kolawole Ajumobi, similarly thanked members of the planning committee, branch executives and diaspora members for their contributions.
The latest honours add to the growing recognition of Oyebanji and Bamidele within their home community as Efon continues efforts to strengthen development and preserve its cultural heritage.
