The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has approved a fresh nationwide posting schedule for 14 newly appointed judges following recommendations by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The development forms part of efforts to strengthen judicial operations and improve case management across several divisions of the Federal High Court nationwide.

According to an official statement issued by the court’s Director of Information, Dr Catherine-Oby Christopher, all affected judges are expected to assume duty at their assigned divisions on May 13, 2026.

The statement explained that the new posting arrangement followed the recent appointment of 14 judges alongside the reposting of three existing judges to different judicial divisions across the country.

Under the approved schedule, Justice Hassan Dikko was posted to the Gusau Division in Zamfara State, while Justices Salim Olasupo Ibrahim and Onah Chigozie Sergius were assigned to

the Abuja Division.

Justice Sulaiman Amida Hassan was posted to the Osogbo Division in Osun State, while Justice Muhammad Saidu will serve in the Minna Division of Niger State.

Other appointments include Justice Igboko Conchita to the Akure Division in Ondo State and Justice Onuegbu Angela to the Yenagoa Division in Bayelsa State.

Justice Galumje Edingah was assigned to the Abakaliki Division in Ebonyi State.

Justice Ibrahim Eneabo was posted to Gombe Division, while Justice Abubakar Usman was assigned to the Ado-Ekiti Division in Ekiti State.

Justice Salihu Yunusa will serve in Damaturu, Yobe State, and Justice Ikpeme Bassey was deployed to the Uyo Division in Akwa Ibom State.

The posting schedule also includes Justice Shehu Adamu to the Maiduguri Division in Borno State and Justice Mohammed Buba to the Dutse Division in Jigawa State. Justice Binjin-Eigegbe Nendelmum Judith was posted to Lokoja Division in Kogi State.

Additionally, Justice Usoro Uduak and Justice Nwoye Osinachi Donatus were reposted to the Lagos Division as part of the wider judicial reshuffling approved by the Chief Judge.

Legal analysts say the new postings are expected to improve judicial efficiency and reduce workload pressure in several busy court divisions handling increasing numbers of cases.

The Federal High Court remains one of Nigeria’s most important superior courts of record with jurisdiction over constitutional matters, taxation, financial crimes, admiralty cases, banking disputes, and matters involving federal agencies.

Observers note that many judicial divisions across Nigeria have faced growing case backlogs in recent years due to increasing litigation and limited judicial manpower.

The appointment and deployment of additional judges are therefore viewed as part of broader efforts to strengthen access to justice and improve the speed of legal proceedings nationwide.

The National Judicial Council has continued to push for improved staffing and judicial reforms across Nigeria’s courts amid concerns over delays in case determination and pressure on judges handling heavy caseloads.

Judicial stakeholders also believe that expanding the number of judges across divisions could help improve public confidence in the legal system and support more efficient justice delivery.

The Federal High Court currently operates divisions across multiple states and remains central to the adjudication of politically sensitive, economic, and constitutional disputes in Nigeria.

The latest deployment is expected to take immediate effect as the affected judges prepare to resume at their new duty stations next week.
