The Federal Government on Thursday reinforced security around the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, following a protest led by activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, alongside members of the Take It Back Movement and concerned Nigerians demanding the immediate release of abducted schoolchildren, teachers, and other kidnapping victims across the country.
A significant security presence was observed around key routes leading to the Presidential Villa as authorities deployed personnel from multiple agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security outfits.
The heightened security measures resulted in restricted movement around several strategic locations in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with commuters and civil servants reportedly experiencing delays while accessing government offices, including the Federal Secretariat and surrounding institutions.
The protest was organized to draw national attention to the growing insecurity affecting many communities across Nigeria, particularly the increasing cases of kidnappings targeting schools, students, teachers, and residents.
