Former presidential aspirant and economist, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential race, positioning himself as a contender ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Hayatu-Deen, a former managing director in the banking sector and experienced policy analyst, said his decision is driven by the need to address Nigeria’s economic challenges, strengthen national unity, and restore public confidence in governance.

According to Punch Newspapers, he declared that his campaign will focus on economic reset, job creation, insecurity reduction, and rebuilding democratic trust across the country.

He stated that Nigeria requires “a steady, credible and reform-driven leadership” capable of stabilising the economy and improving the living conditions of citizens, adding that many Nigerians are increasingly dissatisfied with current governance outcomes.

The former presidential aspirant also emphasized his past experience in corporate leadership and economic reform, noting that he intends to bring practical private-sector efficiency into national governance if elected.

Hayatu-Deen further pledged to actively campaign for the ADC and contribute to strengthening the party’s structure ahead of the 2027 elections, describing the platform as a viable alternative for national transformation.

Political observers say his entry into the race could reshape internal dynamics within the ADC as the party positions itself for broader national visibility ahead of the next election cycle.
