The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in serving as ad-hoc staff during the 2027 general elections.

The recruitment exercise officially begins at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, and applicants have until midnight on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, to complete their applications.

The exercise is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the commission expected to recruit a large number of temporary election personnel for polling and other electoral duties.

INEC’s recruitment categories include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.

Who You Can Apply?

Eligibility depends on the position selected.

Potential applicants include serving NYSC members, eligible former corps members, students of Federal and State tertiary institutions, qualified government workers, INEC personnel and people with relevant ICT backgrounds.

For example, eligible penultimate students of Federal or State tertiary institutions can apply for PO/APO positions, while certain public and civil servants may qualify for SPO positions. RATECH applicants are expected to have relevant ICT or technical backgrounds.

Applicants are advised to check the specific requirements for their preferred position before beginning registration.
