JAMB Warns UTME, DE Candidates: One Profile Mistake Could Derail Your Admission

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates to carefully verify their personal details before creating their JAMB profiles.

The warning was issued through JAMB's “JAMB Explained” advisory series as the examination body highlighted common mistakes that could cause complications during registration and admission. According to JAMB, candidates must pay particular attention to their names and dates of birth because the information is linked to their National Identification Number records.

The board explained that candidates' identity details are obtained from the National Identity Management Commission and are not created independently by JAMB.

This means candidates who discover errors in their names or dates of birth should resolve the problems with their NIN records before proceeding with JAMB profile creation.

JAMB specifically warned candidates against assuming that an affidavit would automatically allow the examination body to correct an incorrect record after registration.

The board therefore advised prospective candidates to check all information connected to their NIN carefully before beginning the registration process. JAMB stressed that a seemingly minor mistake at the profile-creation stage could create major difficulties later in the admission process.

Candidates preparing for either UTME or Direct Entry are consequently encouraged to take responsibility for ensuring that their personal information is accurate from the beginning.

The warning is particularly important because the details submitted during the admission process form part of a candidate's official academic and examination records.

Students who notice discrepancies should correct them through the appropriate authorities before proceeding with their JAMB registration. JAMB's latest advisory is part of its ongoing effort to help candidates avoid preventable registration problems and ensure smoother participation in the admission process.

For prospective candidates, checking their NIN information before creating a profile could save them from complications that may be difficult to resolve later.
