Jetour WMotors has put its T1, T2 and G700 SUVs through a demanding 128-kilometre adventure across Lagos as part of the 2026 Jetour Africa Expedition.
The Lagos leg combined urban driving, lifestyle experiences and an intensive off-road challenge designed to demonstrate the vehicles’ performance, durability, control and versatility under real-world conditions.
Eight units of the three Jetour models participated in the convoy, giving participants an opportunity to experience the vehicles across different driving environments.
The expedition took the convoy through several notable Lagos locations, including Lekki Market, Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, Freedom Park, the National Theatre, Ahmadu Bello Way and Third Mainland Bridge.
The journey eventually moved to an off-road circuit in Ikorodu, where the SUVs faced significantly more demanding conditions than those encountered during the city-driving segment.
The Ikorodu challenge featured steep slopes, bumps, uneven surfaces and other difficult terrain designed to test the off-road capabilities of the participating vehicles.
The exercise formed part of a wider pan-African lifestyle and adventure initiative aimed at celebrating exploration, mobility, community and adventure across the continent.
According to Jetour WMotors Managing Director Tony Jamal, the initiative was designed to showcase the combination of performance, safety, luxury and adventure offered by the brand while demonstrating Nigeria’s growing importance as an automotive market.
Jamal said Nigeria’s participation also offered an opportunity to demonstrate to Jetour’s manufacturing base in China that the country represents a significant market for the brand.
He said the routes were deliberately selected to combine different aspects of Lagos while allowing participants to experience the vehicles under varying driving conditions.
The off-road section was particularly important because it allowed the four-wheel-drive models to demonstrate their capabilities under demanding conditions.
Jamal highlighted the vehicles’ 2.0-litre turbocharged engines, Euro 6 specification, fuel efficiency and high torque as features that contributed to their performance during the expedition.
The expedition is being conducted across 12 African countries, with each participating market contributing its own experience to the wider continental campaign.
For Jetour WMotors, the Nigerian leg was therefore not simply a vehicle demonstration but also a way of connecting the brand with customers and showcasing the country's potential within the African automotive market.
The company’s growing presence in Nigeria comes as consumers increasingly consider SUVs that can combine everyday urban driving with capabilities suited to more difficult terrain.
The expedition provided an opportunity to demonstrate that versatility in a practical setting rather than relying solely on showroom presentations or conventional road tests.
The vehicles’ performance on the Ikorodu circuit was particularly relevant to the brand’s positioning around adventure and off-road capability.
The event also gave participants a firsthand experience of how the SUVs handled changes in road surfaces, inclines and other demanding conditions.
Beyond performance, Jetour WMotors is placing significant emphasis on customer support as part of its strategy to strengthen confidence in the brand.
Jamal disclosed that the company offers a seven-year, unlimited-mileage warranty on its vehicles, backed by an after-sales package intended to provide customers with greater peace of mind.
The warranty is positioned as an important part of the ownership proposition as the company seeks to build a stronger customer base in Nigeria.
The Lagos expedition also forms part of Jetour’s broader effort to build an experiential identity around its vehicles rather than focusing exclusively on technical specifications.
By combining city exploration with an off-road challenge, the company was able to showcase the vehicles in environments that reflect different aspects of everyday and recreational driving.
Jamal also revealed that the company plans to expand the expedition in 2027, with participants from China expected to join the event and a stronger emphasis placed on off-road driving.
The next edition is expected to provide an even larger platform for Jetour to demonstrate its vehicles and deepen connections between its Nigerian operations and the company's international network.
For Nigeria’s automotive market, initiatives of this nature also create opportunities for consumers to become more familiar with newer vehicle brands and their capabilities.
The growing focus on SUVs, technology, safety and after-sales support is increasing competition within Nigeria’s vehicle market as manufacturers and distributors seek to attract increasingly discerning buyers.
Jetour WMotors’ latest expedition consequently represents both a marketing exercise and a practical demonstration of its vehicles’ capabilities.
With the T1, T2 and G700 completing the challenging Lagos route and off-road test, the company has signalled its intention to position Jetour as a brand capable of combining luxury, everyday mobility and adventure.
As preparations begin for a larger 2027 edition, the Lagos challenge could become an important part of Jetour’s continuing effort to strengthen its footprint in Nigeria and across the wider African automotive market.
