Former presidential spokesman Laolu Akande has called on Nigerians to speak out against the continued wave of killings and insecurity affecting several parts of the country.

Speaking during an interview, Akande said citizens, leaders and institutions have a collective responsibility to condemn violence and demand stronger action from authorities.

He noted that repeated attacks on communities have claimed numerous lives and displaced thousands of residents, warning that normalising violence could further weaken public confidence in government institutions.

Akande stressed that protecting human life must remain the highest priority of every government, regardless of political affiliation.

He urged leaders at all levels to strengthen security coordination, improve intelligence gathering and ensure perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.

According to him, silence in the face of persistent killings only emboldens criminal groups and undermines national unity.

His remarks come amid renewed concerns over attacks, kidnappings and communal violence recorded in different parts of Nigeria in recent months.

Many security analysts have also called for greater collaboration between federal and state authorities as well as increased community participation in intelligence sharing.
