The Nigerian Law School has recognised its top-performing graduates for the 2026 Call to Bar, celebrating exceptional academic achievements across the Bar Part II examinations.
The awards were presented during the Call to Bar ceremonies held from July 7 to 10 at the Body of Benchers Complex in Abuja, where thousands of successful candidates were formally admitted into the Nigerian Bar.
Leading the list of honourees is Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, a graduate of the University of Ilorin and the Nigerian Law School's Lagos Campus, who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student after recording the highest overall performance in the examinations.
Two outstanding female graduates also earned national recognition as Joint Female Best Graduating Students and Joint Second Overall.
They are Chiamaka Happiness Modestus of Igbinedion University, Okada, and Adetutu Loren Gomez, whose exceptional performances placed them among the country's highest-ranking law graduates.
The Law School also honoured students who excelled in individual Bar Part II subjects. Ifeoluwa Ajaiyeoba received recognition in Civil Litigation, Ogechi C. Ifezie emerged as the best in Professional Ethics, Timilehin Adebayo won the top prize in Criminal Litigation, Emmanuel Oyelami excelled in Corporate Law, while Francis Obiahu Alu was recognised for outstanding performance in Property Law.
Among the overall high achievers were Freedolyn Ani and Timilehin Adebayo, who were recognised as Joint Third Overall Best Graduating Students, reflecting the highly competitive nature of the 2026 Bar examinations.
The institution also presented first, second and third prizes across the core Bar Part II courses, rewarding candidates who distinguished themselves in Criminal Litigation, Corporate Law, Civil Litigation, Property Law and Professional Ethics. Several other students, including Victoria Sogade, Niniolaoluwa Ilori, Ivy-Mary Eweputanna, Sandra Idoko, Oluwatomisin Daniel, and Ndukwu Chibundom, also received special academic recognition for their outstanding performances.
The annual awards recognise excellence in legal education and celebrate graduates who demonstrated exceptional knowledge, discipline and professional competence during their training at the Nigerian Law School.
Many of the award recipients are expected to become leading figures within Nigeria's legal profession in the years ahead.
The 2026 Call to Bar ceremonies marked the successful completion of the mandatory professional training required for admission into the Nigerian Bar, bringing together new lawyers, senior advocates, judges, legal educators and members of the Body of Benchers to celebrate the newest members of the legal profession.
