The achievement came after months of intense competition that attracted more than 220,000 students and lecturers from over 2,000 tertiary institutions across more than 100 countries and regions, making it the largest edition of the Huawei ICT Competition in history.
The UNILAG student was part of Team Nigeria, which progressed through national and regional qualifying stages before securing a place at the global finals alongside some of the brightest ICT students from around the world.
Nigeria's outstanding performance at the competition saw the country's representatives win two Grand Prizes, two First Prizes and one Second Prize across different categories.
The participating Nigerian students represented several universities, including the University of Lagos, Ahmadu Bello University, University of Port Harcourt, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Igbinedion University, and Nasarawa State University.
According to Huawei, Nigeria also made history by becoming the first and only country in the competition's history to produce two all-female teams that both won Grand Prizes.
The competition featured challenging practical and innovation-based tracks, requiring participants to demonstrate advanced skills in networking, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, programming and digital innovation.
Contestants advanced through multiple elimination stages before reaching the global finals, where they competed against 177 teams from 49 countries and regions.
One of Nigeria's biggest highlights was the award-winning "ParaVision" project, an artificial intelligence-powered healthcare solution developed using Huawei technologies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of malaria and intestinal parasites.
The innovation impressed judges because of its practical application in addressing real healthcare challenges while showcasing advanced AI capabilities.
Huawei described the Nigerian team's success as evidence of the country's growing capacity to produce globally competitive technology professionals capable of solving real-world problems.
