The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has postponed the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for applicants participating in its Nigeria–Russia Scholarship Programme.

The examination, which was initially scheduled to take place on Monday, July 6, 2026, has been put on hold due to what the commission described as unforeseen circumstances beyond its control.

The announcement was made through an official public notice issued by the commission's Directorate of Education, Health and Social Services (EHSS).

According to the NDDC, the decision was taken to ensure the smooth conduct of the scholarship selection process despite the unexpected development.

In its statement, the commission apologised to all affected applicants for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.

It also expressed appreciation for the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by candidates throughout the application process.

The NDDC assured applicants that a new date for the CBT will be announced in due course.

Candidates have been advised to regularly monitor their registered email addresses and the commission's official communication channels for updates regarding the rescheduled examination.

The Nigeria–Russia Scholarship Programme is part of the commission's broader human capital development initiative aimed at providing postgraduate education opportunities for qualified candidates from the Niger Delta region.

Successful applicants are expected to pursue advanced studies in various disciplines at partner institutions in Russia.

The scholarship programme has become one of the NDDC's flagship educational interventions, designed to equip young professionals with specialised knowledge and skills that can contribute to the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta.

Each year, beneficiaries are selected through a competitive screening process that includes aptitude tests and other assessment stages.

Although the commission did not disclose the specific reason behind the postponement, it emphasised that the circumstances were beyond its control and reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent and credible selection process once a new date is fixed.

Applicants have been encouraged not to panic or rely on unofficial information circulating online.

Instead, they should await further announcements directly from the NDDC through its verified communication platforms to avoid misinformation.

The postponement affects only the CBT stage of the scholarship exercise, and the commission has not indicated any changes to other aspects of the programme.

Candidates who successfully completed earlier stages of the application process remain eligible to participate once the examination is rescheduled.

The NDDC reiterated its appreciation to all applicants for their continued cooperation and assured them that every effort is being made to announce a new examination date as soon as possible.

It maintained that the scholarship programme remains an important investment in the educational and professional development of youths across the Niger Delta region.

Deadline: To be announced.
