The Nigerian Army has declared two senior leaders of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) wanted and announced a combined ₦60 million reward for credible information leading to their arrest.

The announcement followed recent military offensives in the Lake Chad Basin, during which troops recovered technical devices that helped identify key figures within the terrorist organisation.

According to the Army, the wanted individuals are Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa, identified as ISWAP's governor (Wali), and his deputy, Amirul Jaish Muhammad Jidda.

Military authorities placed a ₦50 million bounty on Abu Musa Al-Mangawi Baa Shuwa and ₦10 million on Muhammad Jidda, bringing the total reward to ₦60 million.

The Army said the identities of the two commanders were established through forensic examination of electronic and technical devices recovered during successful operations against ISWAP fighters in the Lake Chad region.

Military officials described the breakthrough as another significant step in ongoing efforts to dismantle the leadership structure of the terrorist organisation.

The Army urged members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted commanders, assuring that all credible intelligence would be treated with strict confidentiality.

Authorities also appealed to residents in affected communities to continue supporting security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious movements and activities.

The latest development comes amid intensified military operations targeting terrorist enclaves across Nigeria's North-East, particularly within the Lake Chad Basin where ISWAP remains active.

In recent months, security forces have stepped up intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting terrorist logistics, destroying hideouts and eliminating senior commanders.

The Federal Government has also introduced additional measures to strengthen military operations, including improved troop welfare and expanded counter-terrorism efforts across affected regions.

Security analysts believe targeting the leadership of insurgent groups is essential to weakening command structures, disrupting operational planning and reducing the capacity of terrorists to coordinate attacks.

The Army reiterated its commitment to sustaining offensive operations until terrorist networks are dismantled and peace is restored to communities affected by insurgency.

Military authorities encouraged Nigerians with credible information about the whereabouts of the wanted ISWAP leaders to cooperate with security agencies, stressing that public support remains critical to ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
