The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially approved Thursday, July 9, 2026, as the passing-out date for all 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members across Nigeria, marking the completion of their mandatory one-year national service programme.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the NYSC Management, which outlined a series of activities scheduled to precede the Passing-Out Parade (POP). According to the scheme, the winding-up exercise commenced on June 23, 2026, and is expected to run until the official passing-out date.

As part of the process, corps members are required to participate in Job Advisory and Counselling (JAC) sessions designed to equip them with career guidance, entrepreneurship knowledge, and post-service opportunities. The programme is aimed at helping outgoing corps members transition smoothly into the labour market, business ventures, or further educational pursuits.

The NYSC also stated that registration and clearance exercises are currently being conducted by Local Government Inspectors (LGIs) in all states of the federation. Additionally, corps members are expected to complete their final documentation and obtain approval from Zonal Inspectors before they can be certified eligible for passing out.

According to the scheme, the 2026 passing-out exercise will be conducted as a low-key event nationwide. This means that elaborate ceremonies will be minimized while administrative procedures remain the primary focus of the exercise.

NYSC management emphasized that Certificates of National Service will only be issued to corps members who have successfully fulfilled all requirements of the national service programme. Those with unresolved disciplinary issues, incomplete service obligations, or pending clearance matters may face delays in receiving their certificates until such issues are resolved.

Speaking on behalf of the scheme, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, congratulated the outgoing corps members on reaching the final stage of their service year.

He commended them for their contributions to national development through community service, educational support, healthcare initiatives, and various projects executed in their host communities during the service year.

General Nafiu further urged the corps members to remain committed to the core values of the NYSC Scheme, including patriotism, discipline, national unity, and selfless service. He encouraged them to become worthy ambassadors of the programme as they move into the next phase of their professional and personal lives.

The passing-out exercise will bring to a close the service year for thousands of corps members deployed across the country under the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I programme. For many, it represents the beginning of new opportunities in employment, entrepreneurship, public service, and higher education.

With preparations already underway nationwide, eligible corps members are expected to complete all required clearance procedures ahead of the July 9 passing-out date.
