The daughters of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have publicly expressed support for Senator Solomon Adeola, also known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.
Lima and Kira Ogogo declared their support during a community clean-up exercise held in Abeokuta on Saturday and organised by the Gen Z for Yayi support group.
The exercise brought together young supporters wearing branded T-shirts as participants combined community service with political mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate.
In a video shared by the Gen Z for Yayi group, Lima said the initiative was intended to encourage young people to move beyond complaining about government and instead contribute to improving their communities.
She said their participation was also an opportunity to demonstrate support for Adeola while taking practical action in their immediate environment.
Kira also declared her support for the APC candidate in a separate video recorded during the exercise, describing the activity as their way of backing Adeola’s ambition to become governor of Ogun State.
The sisters’ public declaration comes just weeks after the death of their father, who was one of the prominent actors in Yoruba-language cinema and hailed from Ilaro in Ogun State.
Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, after his daughters had earlier appealed publicly for assistance with his medical treatment during his illness.
Adeola had visited the actor’s family in Ilaro following his death and disclosed that he had intended to appoint Ogogo as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture, with cabinet rank, if elected governor in 2027.
The senator said the proposed appointment was connected to Ogogo’s experience in the entertainment industry and his knowledge of Yoruba culture.
Following the actor’s death, there were also public suggestions that Adeola could consider appointing one of Ogogo’s daughters to the position originally intended for their father if he wins the election, although no such appointment has been announced.
Adeola is the APC’s candidate for the 2027 Ogun governorship election after the party reaffirmed his candidacy in August following a dispute over claims by another aspirant to the party’s ticket.
The senator, who represents Ogun West in the National Assembly, has already begun political mobilisation ahead of the election, with various support groups organising activities across the state.
Earlier in September, an APC chieftain, Titi Fagbote, empowered 50 women in Yewa North Local Government Area while mobilising support for Adeola’s governorship campaign.
The beneficiaries included hairdressers, fashion designers and elderly women, while the event also marked the inauguration of the Ayoka Women for Yayi support group.
Adeola’s running mate for the election is Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, a chartered accountant and executive director of Finance and Administration at Rite Foods Limited, whose nomination was announced by the Ogun APC in June.
The Ogun APC has also held larger mobilisation events ahead of the 2027 election, including a mega rally in Ijebu-Ode attended by supporters from the state’s 20 local government areas.
At that rally, Governor Dapo Abiodun declared that the APC was prepared for the 2027 general election and pledged two million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
The latest support from Ogogo’s daughters adds another public endorsement to Adeola’s campaign, while their participation in a community clean-up also placed emphasis on youth involvement and community service.
With the 2027 governorship election still ahead, political parties and support groups in Ogun State are expected to continue their mobilisation activities as candidates work to build support across the state.
