The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the successful upload of its presidential, vice-presidential and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general election.
The announcement comes after INEC extended the deadline for political parties to complete the nomination process.
The disclosure was made by the party's National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, who described the submission as another important milestone in the PDP's preparations for the 2027 elections.
He said the exercise reflects the party's determination to participate fully in the electoral process.
According to Mohammed, the successful upload fulfils a major commitment made by the party's leadership and demonstrates that the PDP remains focused on presenting candidates across the country despite recent political developments and internal challenges.
A screenshot of the party's dashboard on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal showed that 410 candidate forms had been generated, with 367 successfully submitted while 42 remained pending at the time of the announcement.
The remaining submissions are expected to cover governorship and State House of Assembly candidates.
The PDP chairman noted that work is ongoing to complete the upload of governorship and State Assembly candidates before the final deadline.
He congratulated party members nationwide for reaching another stage in the nomination process and expressed confidence that the remaining submissions would be concluded promptly.
The development followed INEC's decision to extend the submission deadline for presidential and National Assembly candidates to July 14, giving political parties additional time to complete their nominations through the commission's online portal.
The extension also allowed other major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), to finalise and upload their own presidential and National Assembly candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
The nomination exercise is regarded as one of the most critical stages in Nigeria's electoral timetable because only candidates successfully uploaded to the portal can participate in the elections.
Political analysts believe the completion of the upload process marks the transition from party primaries to full-scale electioneering, with parties expected to intensify campaigns and policy engagements in the coming months.
Attention is now expected to shift toward the completion of governorship and state legislative nominations as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
