The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested four suspected burglars during an intelligence-led operation targeting a criminal hideout in the Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

The raid forms part of the command's ongoing efforts to combat burglary and other property-related crimes across the state.

The operation was carried out on Sunday by police operatives acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of a suspected burglary syndicate operating within the area.

According to the command, the suspects were apprehended without incident during the coordinated raid.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State, SP Sunday Abutu, said the suspects had been using the location as a hideout while carrying out burglary operations in different parts of Ado Ekiti.

He noted that intelligence gathering played a crucial role in identifying the location and tracking the suspects.

During the operation, police recovered a large quantity of suspected stolen property, including cartons of perfumes, toiletries, soaps and other household items believed to have been taken from shops and residential buildings.

Officers also recovered burglary implements, including a heavy sledgehammer allegedly used to force entry into buildings.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, linked the recovered items to a recent burglary incident involving a shop in Ado Ekiti.

Detectives are working to establish the ownership of the recovered property and determine whether the suspects are connected to other burglary cases reported within the state.

The command disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation as investigators seek additional information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the suspected criminal network.

Police also intend to identify possible buyers and receivers of stolen goods connected to the syndicate.

Authorities assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and property through intelligence-driven policing and increased surveillance across vulnerable communities.

The police urged members of the public to continue providing useful information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime.

The Ekiti State Police Command reiterated that community cooperation remains vital in tackling criminal activities, encouraging residents to promptly report suspicious movements or abandoned properties that may serve as criminal hideouts.

Security agencies have intensified operations across Ekiti in recent weeks, leading to several arrests linked to robbery, kidnapping and burglary as part of broader efforts to improve public safety throughout the state.

The police assured that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, while efforts continue to recover additional stolen property and dismantle any remaining members of the alleged burglary syndicate.
