President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja on Thursday, October 29, 2026, for Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to perform Umrah (lesser Hajj) and offer prayers for Nigeria's national peace, security, and socio-economic progress.

The development was confirmed in a state statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Chief Bayo Onanuga.

According to the executive release, the spiritual trip will provide the President an opportunity for personal reflection, devotion, and intercession for divine guidance in managing national affairs.

Prior to his departure from the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, President Tinubu will oversee an official military commissioning ceremony:

  • Air Force Logistics Expansion: The President will officially commission newly acquired operational defense equipment for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to enhance counter-insurgency and tactical security operations across the country.

  • Delegation and Protocols: Following the short airport ceremony, the President will board the presidential aircraft bound for Jeddah, from where he will proceed to the Holy City of Makkah.

Presidency sources confirmed that President Tinubu is expected back in Abuja next week upon concluding the spiritual exercise.
