African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has raised concerns over an alleged attack by suspected political thugs at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
Sowore disclosed the incident on Friday, October 30, through a post on his official Facebook page, claiming that he and others were attacked while inside a restaurant.
“Thugs just attacked us inside a restaurant in Ado Ekiti,” the activist wrote.
A subsequent update on his Facebook page raised further concern, alleging that armed men had taken him away and that his whereabouts were unknown.
“Armed thugs kidnap Sowore. His current location is unknown!” the post stated.
However, the circumstances surrounding the reported incident and the claim of abduction remain unclear. There has been no independent confirmation of the alleged kidnapping in the information available at the time of filing this report.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from the Ekiti State Police Command were also reportedly unsuccessful, leaving questions about the incident unanswered.
The development comes as political activities gather momentum ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with political parties, candidates and supporters beginning to intensify mobilisation across the country.
Sowore, a human rights activist and publisher of SaharaReporters, is the presidential candidate of the AAC and has remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s political and civic space.
The alleged attack has raised concerns about the safety of political actors and the need to protect citizens’ rights to participate in political activities without intimidation or violence.
As of the time of publication, further details about the identities of the alleged attackers, the circumstances of the reported incident and Sowore’s whereabouts had not been independently established.
NovexNews will update this report as more verified information becomes available.
