Wike, Adeleke, Soludo Named in APC’s Expanded Tinubu Campaign Council for 2027
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expanded its presidential campaign council ahead of the 2027 general election, naming Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo among its state campaign coordinators.
The revised list places the three politicians in key campaign roles despite their affiliations with parties other than the APC. Wike is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Soludo belongs to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), while Adeleke secured re-election as Osun governor under the Accord Party.
According to a report by TheCable on Tuesday, October 13, Wike will coordinate the APC’s presidential campaign in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory. Soludo has been assigned to Anambra State, while Adeleke will coordinate the campaign in Osun State.
The expanded campaign council is expected to be inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
The revised structure follows the initial release of the presidential campaign council list on August 22, 2026, as the ruling party prepares for the next general election.
Under the updated arrangement, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq have been named deputy vice-chairmen I, II and III, respectively.
Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni becomes Deputy Director-General I for the North, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin takes the position of Deputy Director-General II for the region.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu have also been assigned deputy director-general positions for the South.
Former Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari retains the role of Director-General of the campaign council, while Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serves as secretary.
The revised council also includes former governors, party leaders and other public officials as advisers and members of specialised campaign directorates.
One of the notable changes in the revised list is the appointment of governors as campaign coordinators for their respective states.
The arrangement places state-level political leaders at the centre of the APC’s mobilisation strategy as the party prepares to campaign for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The council also includes other political figures who will oversee campaign activities, election planning, logistics, stakeholder mobilisation and communication.
The inclusion of Wike, Adeleke and Soludo is particularly notable because their political affiliations differ from that of the ruling party. Their appointments, however, relate to the campaign roles stated in the published list and should not automatically be interpreted as evidence that they have formally joined the APC.
The revised appointments come as political parties and their leaders prepare for the 2027 general election.
The APC’s expanded structure is designed to coordinate campaign activities across the federation, with responsibilities distributed among national officers, state coordinators and specialised directorates.
The development adds another dimension to the political calculations ahead of the election, particularly as parties work to strengthen their mobilisation networks and build support across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
The campaign council’s inauguration on Wednesday is expected to formally advance the party’s preparations for the presidential contest.
