Young Africans interested in pursuing a career in healthcare now have an opportunity to access a fully funded international education programme as applications open for the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health.

The programme is organised by the Afe Babalola Centre for Transnational Education in partnership with King’s College London and other African institutions. It is designed to prepare students for further studies and careers in health-related fields while equipping them with practical knowledge that can be applied within their communities.

According to the organisers, successful applicants will study under a fully funded scholarship, removing the financial barriers that often prevent many talented young Africans from accessing quality education.

The Foundation Certificate in Applied Health is a one-year, full-time online programme scheduled to commence on September 14, 2026. The course will be delivered entirely online, allowing students from different African countries to participate without relocating.

The initiative specifically seeks to support young people from Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly those who may have experienced financial hardship, displacement, family responsibilities, or other circumstances that have limited their educational opportunities.

Who Can Apply?

Applications are open to eligible candidates from countries across Sub-Saharan Africa who have completed their secondary school education and meet the academic requirements set by the programme.

For Nigerian applicants, candidates must possess at least a C6 grade in WAEC or NECO examinations.

Applicants from Ghana must have obtained a minimum of C6 in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), while applicants from Kenya are required to have achieved a grade C or higher in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

South African applicants must possess at least Level 4 in the National Senior Certificate (NSC).

Additional Requirements

Beyond academic qualifications, applicants must:

  • Have reliable internet access.

  • Possess a smartphone, laptop, or computer.

  • Be available to participate in weekly online learning sessions.

  • Not currently be enrolled in any university degree programme.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must complete a two-stage application process before the deadline.

The first step involves applying through the Afe Babalola Centre application portal, where applicants will be required to answer screening questions and submit personal statements outlining their motivation and suitability for the programme.

The second step requires applicants to complete King’s College London's application process for the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health programme.

Applicants are advised to carefully complete both stages, as failure to do so may affect their eligibility for consideration.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is June 25, 2026.

With full scholarship funding, flexible online learning, and collaboration with one of the world's leading universities, the Foundation Certificate in Applied Health presents a valuable opportunity for young Africans seeking to build careers in healthcare and contribute meaningfully to improving health outcomes within their communities.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early and ensure all required information is completed before the closing date.
