Applications are now open for the 2026/2027 TAGDev 2.0 Scholarships, a fully funded programme designed to equip young Africans with the skills needed to transform the continent’s agriculture and agribusiness sectors.
The initiative is implemented by the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, as part of a long-term programme running from 2023 to 2033.
The scholarship targets economically disadvantaged but academically strong African students, offering opportunities to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in agriculture, agribusiness, and related fields.
Participating institutions span multiple African countries, including universities in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Morocco, among others.
The TAGDev 2.0 programme is fully funded, covering:
Tuition fees
Accommodation and living stipend
Research, workshop, and conference costs
Laptop and study materials
Internship and field attachments
Entrepreneurship and leadership training
Beyond academics, the programme focuses heavily on practical skills, community impact, and agribusiness innovation, preparing scholars to drive sustainable food systems and economic growth across Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be citizens of an African country
Be academically qualified for admission into a partner university
Demonstrate interest in agriculture, agribusiness, or rural development
Be from economically disadvantaged or marginalized backgrounds
Typically be under 25 years (undergraduate) or 30–35 years (postgraduate) depending on category
Special consideration is given to women, refugees, internally displaced persons, and persons with disabilities.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should:
Apply for admission to a participating university offering eligible programmes
Submit a separate application for the TAGDev 2.0 scholarship through RUFORUM or the institution
Upload required documents (academic records, ID, CV, and supporting materials)
Complete both applications before the deadline
