Abuja, Nigeria – An old video showing former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha dancing together has resurfaced on social media following a Federal High Court judgment that removed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Imo West.

The video, which has attracted renewed attention among Nigerians, captures Wike and Okorocha displaying their dancing skills at a public gathering while enjoying a traditional Nigerian song.

The footage originally circulated in March 2021, when Wike was the governor of Rivers State and Okorocha was representing Imo West in the Senate. Its renewed circulation on Thursday, October 29, 2026, has generated fresh political conversations, particularly against the backdrop of recent disagreements involving Wike and Uzodimma.

The development followed a judgment delivered by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The court ruled that Okorocha, not Uzodimma, won the APC primary election conducted on May 18, 2026, for the Imo West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Consequently, the judge ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise Okorocha as the party's validly nominated candidate and publish his name in place of Uzodimma's.

The court also directed the Imo State governor to stop presenting himself as the APC candidate for the senatorial election scheduled for January 16, 2027.

Okorocha had approached the court to challenge the recognition of Uzodimma as the winner of the APC primary.

In the suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1854/2026, the former governor argued that the reports submitted by INEC officials who monitored the primary supported his claim that he won the election.

The case generated controversy because the party's returning officer had earlier announced Uzodimma as the winner with 230,464 votes, while Okorocha's camp maintained that the former governor secured 150,780 votes against Uzodimma's 102,158.

The court ultimately accepted the evidence presented in Okorocha's case and ruled in his favour.

The resurfaced footage has attracted attention because of the political relationship between Wike and Okorocha and the recent disagreements between Wike and Uzodimma.

In the March 2021 footage, the two politicians appeared relaxed and cheerful as they danced together at a public gathering.

Although the video is not new, its renewed circulation has prompted Nigerians to revisit the relationship between the two political figures.

The timing has also made the footage particularly interesting to social media users, considering the ongoing political developments surrounding the 2027 elections.

However, the resurfaced video should not be mistaken for footage of Wike and Okorocha celebrating Thursday's court judgment. It is an older recording that has gained fresh attention following the ruling.

The renewed attention surrounding the video also comes amid reported political disagreements between Wike and Uzodimma over the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement associated with Wike ahead of the 2027 elections.

Reports indicate that Wike has been supporting political interests that differ from those of some APC governors, including Uzodimma in Imo State.

In particular, Wike has reportedly backed Okorocha's senatorial ambition against the position of the Imo State governor.

This political disagreement has added another dimension to the developing situation in Imo State, where party loyalty, political alliances and individual ambitions are becoming increasingly important ahead of the next general elections.

Following the court victory, Okorocha also expressed support for the Rainbow Coalition, further drawing attention to his political relationship with Wike.

The development has generated discussions about the possible influence of the coalition on political calculations in Imo State and other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, the APC in Imo State has maintained that Uzodimma remains its preferred candidate despite the court's decision.

The party's spokesperson, Onwuasoanya Jones, said the party would study the judgment through its legal department before deciding on its next course of action.

The APC also indicated its intention to challenge the judgment, insisting that Uzodimma won the party's primary election.

This suggests that the legal and political battle over the Imo West senatorial ticket may not be over, particularly if the party proceeds with an appeal.

The development is significant because Imo West remains an important political constituency in Imo State.

A possible return of Okorocha to the Senate would represent another major chapter in the political history of the state, especially given his long-standing political differences with Uzodimma.

It also highlights the growing importance of political alliances ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.

For the APC, the dispute presents a challenge involving internal party democracy, candidate selection and the relationship between party leadership and elected officeholders.

For voters, the eventual outcome will determine who represents Imo West under the APC platform in the forthcoming senatorial election.
